Maternitat tapestry, maternal symbol and promise of regeneration. The return to the bosom of the earth marks, like all death, the prelude to a new birth.

Pregnancy is such a personal experience that it goes beyond words. We can express some sensations and emotions. But never explain everything that it means to lead another life within you.

It is a great event, there is a lot of literature and discourse on motherhood. But sometimes the external world is not related to the internal one.

Pregnancy for me, overflowed space and time, each intrauterine movement, each spasm, each fatigue. The longing, the crying, the expectation, every laugh and every kilo were the paroxysm of love.

I had the idea of being consumed from within and I gave myself fully to the banquet. I had to maintain iron and calcium levels for the intake of two. Track sugar levels, and keep an eye on the behavior of my white blood cells and platelets. As well as my protein and hormone levels.

I voluntarily surrendered. Eager to run away from the terrible obstetric care at the Barcelona Maternity Hospital. But with the paralysis that uncertainty gave me.

But not only fetuses eat from the mother. There are studies that say that the brain of a pregnant woman also changes its composition. Enhancing functions such as empathy or anticipating possible threats from the environment. They call it adaptive pruning.

Why do people keep having children they don’t want? This adaptive pruning is not enough to care for and love the new born. Much more remains to be done so that together we provide well-being, security and happiness to the new generations.
